Welcome to the world of hipsterdom, where your worth is determined by how many people know you, how cynical you can be about current trends, and how little you can do on a weekday. Meet Terrence, who will do anything to become popular. Unfortunately The Black Guts, his indie rock band, is the biggest joke on the scene. To make matters worse, he still has a thing for his ex-girlfriend Sue Byrkrit. Too bad she?s dating the uber-hipster/music critic, Connor Rooney. Terrance?s best friend and voice of reason is Theo Huxtable, a struggling writer who penned a novel entitled, Truck Stop Hustler. The book is about a fictional character named KK Downey, who just happens to be a teenage prostitute. Theo can?t seem to generate interest any in Truck Stop. As he?s told, people aren?t interested in reading dark material written by a `chubby white kid?. The band sucks and the book is collecting dust. So, what are these two failures going to do? They are going to scratch off Theo?s name as the author of Truck Stop and replace it with KK Downey?s. Terrance throws on a long black wig, dark glasses and in an instant they have created the quintessential tortured artist/hipster poster boy. As a memoir, the book sells like hot cakes and KK Downey becomes a sensation, with Theo acting as his manager.
